Urination, excessive

The production of more than 2.5 litres of urine per day. The medical term is polyuria. Causes include psychiatric problems, which may cause a person to drink compulsively; diabetes mellitus; disorders of the kidney known as salt-losing states; and central diabetes insipidus. Any person who passes large quantities of urine should consult a doctor.
