Larva migrans

Infections that are characterized by the presence of the larval (immature) forms of certain worms in the body. Visceral larva migrans ( toxocariasis) is caused by a type of worm that normally parasitizes dogs. Cutaneous larva migrans (creeping eruption) is caused by a form of hookworm infestation; the larvae penetrate the skin and move around, leaving intensely itchy red lines sometimes accompanied by blistering. Both types of larva migrans can be treated with anthelmintic drugs.
