Scarring caused by damage to the glomeruli (see glomerulus). Mild glomerulosclerosis occurs normally with age. Glomerulosclerosis may occur in some severe types of glomerulonephritis. It is also sometimes associated with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, AIDS, or intravenous drug abuse.
