Dysentery

An intestinal infection, causing diarrhoea (often with blood, pus, and mucus) and abdominal pain. There are 2 distinct forms: shigellosis, due to shigella bacteria; and amoebic dysentery, caused by the protozoan parasite. The main risk with dysentery is dehydration.
