A drug used mainly in the prevention and treatment of malaria. It is also used as an antirheumatic to treat rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosus. Side effects are nausea, headache, diarrhoea, rashes, and abdominal pain. Long-term use may damage the retina.
